Seeking ideas for an elevated rail park in Queens, Emerging New York Architects (ENYA) has announced its sixth Biennial Ideas Competition. Entries will focus on an abandoned station in Ozone Park, making specific proposals for access points to encourage the park’s use by the local community. The elevated QueensWay Park would transform 3.5 miles of the abandoned LIRR Rockaway Beach Branch in NYC. According to the ENYA Competition Committee press release, “This conversion shares many similarities to the Bloomingdale trail conversion in Chicago, whose surrounding urban context has a significantly lower density than the High Line.” To learn more about the competition or for entry submission prior to the deadline of 6 January 2014, click here.
