NYDesigns requests the pleasure of your company at the launch event for Créate: Diseñadores de Nueva York, a pioneering report on Latino participation in the New York City design economy. The evening will be led by a panel discussion on the challenges and successes of Latino designers beginning promptly at seven o’clock. Reception with wine and Nuevo Latino cuisine will follow. Smart Environments Awards

Metropolis magazine and IIDA announce the 5th Annual IIDA/Metropolis Smart Environments Awards Competition. The Smart Environments Awards recognize individuals and collaborative teams creating excellent, leading-edge interior environments. The competition is open to Interior Design and Architecture professionals and teams practicing legally in their jurisdictions.The results of the Smart Environments Awards will be announced during the USGBC Greenbuild Expo. Selected winners may be invited to present their work. Winning projects will be considered for publication in Metropolis and on its Web site. www.iida.org/content.cfm/metropolis-smart
