How does society provide for the needs of those who have retired and newly entered the ranks of the aged? Based on his book, Young-Old: Urban Utopias of an Aging Society, architect and urban studies expert Deane Simpson shares his critical perspectives on aging in place, the history of aging communities, and the future of retirement.

Learning Objectives
– Define the needs and desires of the young-old age group.
– Develop an understanding of the challenges in designing for this age group.
– Identify positive and negative aspects of living in retirement communities and aging in place.
– Examine developments in designing for the aging.

We will review your responses and submit your grade and attendance to AIA.
