Susan S. Szenasy speaks to presenters from this year's trade show about lighting efficiency, management, and trends.
Lighting is integral to our everyday lives, and designers and manufacturers continue to create lighting systems that will further enhance our home and work environments. From smart controls that dim or brighten according to the time of day or wireless technologies that allow for greater energy efficiency, new trends continue to emerge—with many being introduced or showcased at the 2015 LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) show.
LFI, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, will convene at New York City’s Javits Center on May 3-7 (the trade show begins on May 5), to bring together more than 26,000 expected registered attendees. More than 500 exhibitors will showcase the latest product offerings, research, technology and tools shaping the industry.
New for this year, the conference will feature an expanded trade floor and categories, including solar power, digital signage and healthcare and hospitality solutions, to name a few. But the biggest draw will be the LFI Controls and Connectivity Forum on current and future industry research, as well as new, shorter length educational courses called 30-minute Power Lunches and 60-minute sessions.
You can learn more about lighting control technologies, managing and mixing artificial and daylight, as well as lighting trends in 2015, during Metropolis’s #LFI2015 Twitter chat, sponsored by LIGHTFAIR, on Wednesday, April 1 at 3 p.m. EST.
Among the panel of lighting industry experts who will be joining the Twitter chat are Kevin Van Den Wymelenberg, associate professor and director of the University of Idaho’s Integrated Design lab, Kelly Waterman, engineer and lighting designer of DEI Electrical Consultants and Mark McClear, Cree’s Vice President Global Sales. Metropolis’ publisher and editor in chief Susan S. Szenasy will moderate the chat.
