Anni Albers: Selected Writings on Design
Edited by Brenda Danilowitz
Wesleyan University Press, 80 pp., $30.00
Through her time as a student at the Bauhaus, in Weimar, Germany; teaching
at Black Mountain College, in North Carolina (1933--49); and creative
work, Albers became one of the most important textile designers of the last
century. In these 15 essays she explores the concept of design as the pursuit
of wholeness (form answering practical and aesthetic needs).
Architecture Now!
By Philip Jodidio; Taschen, 576 pp., $39.99

architecture, from Tadao Ando to Morphosis to Tod Williams Billie Tsien
& Associates. Each architect or firm is presented with a brief
introduction and a lightly annotated series of photographs of a recent project.
Although nobody is examined in depth, the sheer number of illustrations
make it an appealing book for anyone interested in the cutting edge of architecture.
