Guidance from the Natural Resources Defense Council and financial assistance
from New York Governor George Pataki and the New York State Energy Research and
Development Authority (NYSERDA) made it possible for the Center for Discovery to
incorporate innovative green features in its new health center. Here are some

Everything at the Discovery Health Center is designed from the perspective of
its clients. This portion of the Center's observation deck wall has been made
transparent, so that both wheelchair-bound clients and able-bodied visitors may
take in the scenery. |

A ramp allows members of the Equine Assisted Therapy Center
to position wheelchair-bound children and adults at a height above the horses,
so that the latter might mount and dismount the animals with greater ease.
