Decatur, Georgia

We wanted to create a forward-thinking and inclusive flag that united all Georgians. Our design features 13 leaves of the state tree, the live oak--representing the state's position as an original colony--done in a circular fashion to represent unity and momentum. The live oak's name implies "evergreen and durable." The leaf references Georgia's strength, growth, and potential. We added the gold star to represent its supreme designation as the "Empire State of the South." The two-color design on a white background was created for ease of reproduction (apparently the new state flag is impossible to manufacture).
