Along the Line

We can see how the former East and West Berlins have developed since the Wall was torn down, but what has been the fate of the former center, the line through which the Wall used to run? Below is evidence of how the scar is slowly healing in some instances, and remaining just as open in others.
Bernauer Strasse: Home to the Berlin Wall Memorial, Bernauer Strasse is also the dividing line between two of Berlin's districts: Mitte in the East and Wedding in the West.
Alte Jakobstrasse:
Located in a partially destroyed historic area, Alte Jakobstrasse offers a mix of old residences and newer architectural styles.
Kronprinzenbrücke:
Funded with an EU grant, the reconstruction of the Kronprinzenbrücke--which spans over the River Spree--is a literal and figurative symbol of the reunification of Berlin.
Kieler Strasse:
A watchtower used to guard over Kieler Strasse, making it a no-man's-land for East Berliners attempting to escape to the West. Now, with its trees and grass, the area is more welcoming to visitors.
