The Object Is the Subject
Having already cornered the market in films about typefaces, director Gary Hustwit has just announced that his next project will be a more hands-on affair. Objectified, a documentary on industrial design, “is about the manufactured objects we surround ourselves with, and the people who make them,” the film’s Web site says.
And what a group of people it is! The preliminary cast includes Dieter Rams, the Bouroullec brothers, Paola Antonelli, Marc Newson, Hella Jongerius, Naoto Fukasawa, Jonathan Ive, Rob Walker, and more.
(Forgetting someone, Gary? I think you might want to ask Karim Rashid, the most famous desi—oh, wait, he’s on the list, too. Rats.)
Though the film doesn’t premiere until early 2009, that’s practically secondary, given the subject matter: you can already buy the T-shirt (with a logo designed by Michael C. Place, of Build) here.
