Carbon Neutral Design: How Do We Get There?
Metropolis hosts a Twitterview with 3form's director of sustainability
Sustainability calls for more than just good intent. It needs a plan—one that’s critical, urgent, and integrated into everyday design and manufacturing practices. 3form, a responsible materials manufacturer for building and hardware solutions, hopes to point the way forward with their Path to Zero initiative.
Path to Zero encompasses several core initiatives, including a commitment to a carbon neutral manufacturing facility by 2017 and subsequently, a zero-waste manufacturing plant. Meanwhile, the company will seek to integrate more recycled content into their products, as well as looking for socially responsive outlets, whether that has to do with greater employee engagement or making sure artisans in developing countries have access to better wages and benefits.
That’s just the start of it. This afternoon, Metropolis editor in chief Susan S. Szenasy will chat with 3form’s Mike Johnson, director of sustainability on Twitter, about carbon neutral design and what steps we can all take to get there. Log on to the Twitterview, at 1 pm EST.
