Swanning Around with Dalí

A good friend of Salvador Dalí’s and a renowned architect, Oscar Tusquets formed Bd Ediciones de Dise–o with four friends after years of designing furniture for acquaintances who couldn’t find things they liked. Given the exclusive world rights to make the pieces that Dalí had drawn for furniture maker Jean-Michel Frank, Tusquets’ team began production.
A replication of the chair in Dalí’s painting “Femme à la Tête Rose,” the Leda is available to the trade only, retailing for approximately $15,000. Made of solid brass and lacquered to retain its exquisite glisten, it is sinuous and sensuous, its arm complete with hand, its dainty feet shod in buttoned-up boots.
The Leda is part of a collection that includes a curvaceous love seat and sleek coffee table, both as anthropomorphic as the chair. Keep tuned for news of a stateside showroom that will offer the work of Bd Ediciones de Dise–o.
