The Intricacies of Sacred Architecture

Posted July 14, 2004

Sacred architecture is so difficult to design, no matter what faith. (“Temple of Light”). Looking at old cathedrals from the gothic age, I think that they are so successful because of their scale, mass, and AGE. I think the idea of permanence is important in sacred architecture, and I find it interesting when we architects try to design a modern space with modern elements to connect supernaturally with supernatural forces.

I have a lot of respect for what [architect] Siamak Hariri has done. Great job.
