In collaboration with InterfaceFLOR, Charlie Lazor, the architect and co-founder of furniture company Blu-Dot, installed a scaled-down, 576-square-foot version of his Flatpak house on the ICFF exhibition floor. The pre-fab structure, which is designed to be easy to ship and assemble on-site, will be available later this year, after Lazar finishes work on his own Flatpak house. Flatpak houses, which are made out of wood, glass, concrete, metal, and fiberboard, are expected to be priced between $175 to $250 per square foot. They will be made in collaboration with Deck House, a manufacturer of prefabricated houses. Predesigned and custom versions of Flatpak houses will also be offered by year’s end.
