This shelving storage system features a patented technology for applying veneer to aluminum to create strong, precise pieces that have the warmth of wood. The technique is unusual because wood veneer applied to aluminum would ordinarily crack as a result of the different tensions in the materials. “You don’t have to invest in a lot of tooling as you would with bent wood,” says Jacob Gubi Olsen, who owns the Danish company. “So we can produce these in small series.” The system features just two components, each $200, that can be combined to create 20 different shelving units. They come with walnut, black ash, or oak veneers.
