Athens, Georgia–based designer Didi Dunphy wants to encourage play and interactivity with her twenty-first-century take on the nineteenth-century “joggling board,” a gliding bench commonly found on Southern porches. While Dunphy’s swing sets, seesaw, and padded indoor skateboards provide more active pastimes for inside the home (or outdoor porch), the Jack Rocker allows users to rely largely on momentum. Just a slight push sets the joggling board in a smooth, relaxing motion. The Jack Rocker’s seat is embroidered vinyl, and its shiny, wedge-shaped powder-coated aluminum bases are hollow and double as storage space.
