An Armchair for Body and Soul

With Eshu, a bi-level armchair, the Norwegian designer Roger Sveian wanted to create a piece of furniture that could provide rest for the mind as well as the body. Wrapped in Maharam fabrics, the chair has strong lines and angles that compel the eye to look at it, but that aren’t taxing on the sense. “I wanted to make a spacious couch but not a heavy one,” says Sveian. “It is a big piece, but it also floats.”
