AS4 Shelves: Now Off the Wall

Bi-coastal design/build studio Atlas has improved on its AS4 shelving system, which supports shelves, drawers, cabinets, and desk space, by offering a freestanding version of the system. The new take is perfect for use as a room partition in an office or home. “Mocking it up in the shop we realized how good [the AS4] looks in the center of the room,” says co-founder Joseph Fratesi, who heads up the company’s Brooklyn office. (Wright oversees the company’s San Francisco studio.) The AS4 is made from cold-rolled steel and solid wood, rather than veneer.
