Made in very limited numbers, the 3-D acrylic chaise longue was designed for Aitali by Karim Rashid. The chaise is created via a laborious process that includes shaping the piece in an oven mold in an oven, then using an ink-jet-and-UV-light printing system to place the pattern on the material. Rashid designed ten vivid patterns for the chair, each a bright mix of shapes and colors. Supported by a stainless steel foot, the longue beautifully combines images of a digital future with the sensuousness of 1930s Hollywood.
