The Kristall pendant light began as an experiment in technology, rather than an exercise in design aesthetics. Scandinavian designer Jonas Wannfors was playing with various light sources, including fiber optics, but settled on long, bent acrylic rods to create a clean-lined, contemporary corona. Kristall, made for Lyx (the Swedish word for “luxury”), can serve as both background illumination and spotlight and won the Best Decorative Lighting award at last year’s Light Fair International in Las Vegas.
