Designed by the British interiors maven Ilse Crawford, the voluptuous 36-24-36 table lamp is based on seventeenth-century, turned-wood furniture forms. The base, which comes in camel and burgundy lacquer, is outfitted with an outsized burlap shade. In all, the piece is a succinct example of Studio Ilse’s design, which is simultaneously modern, historical, and emotional.
“It just fits in a taxi,” says Jess Telly, Studio Ilse’s studio manager, of the lamp. “Just it, me, and the shade.” The entire 36-24-36 line soon will be available in the U.S. at the Terence Conran shops.
