As a kid, Liza Phillips amused herself by making up games to play on the carpets and tile floors of her home. “Persian rugs were great for this,” she says. “The challenge was figuring out the rules governing one’s steps from here to there.” Later, as an adult, she was unable to find the perfect rug for her home and, frustrated, submitted a design to a local rug manufacturer. The manufacturer not only put the pattern into production, but also asked for more. Thus was born Color Field Rugs.
Made in Nepal with handknotted Himalayan wool, the rugs look like game boards. In addition to custom sizes, rugs come in the stock sizes of 2 foot x 6 foot, and 6 foot x 8 foot. No child labor is used in their production.
