My Web 2.0 (myweb2.search.yahoo.com): Yahoo! is on a mission to unseat Google by delivering “social search” to the masses, an approach that promises to shift power from links by Web publishers to bookmarks by users. By leveraging personal relationships and behaviors, Yahoo! hopes to provide more customized results. The idea that “my profile” and “my contacts” become part of my search experience is compelling. And as I describe my interests, I grow more valuable to Yahoo! even as Yahoo! grows more valuable to me. But so far I’m unimpressed with the results of My Web. Of course like most consumers I’m lazy and haven’t built my profile, so perhaps it’s my fault.
