Editorial Submissions
Send query letters—not complete manuscripts—describing your idea and why it would be good for our magazine. Be concise, specific, and clear. Also, please include clips and a resume. The ideal Metropolis story is based on strong reporting skills and includes an examination of current critical issues. A design firm’s newest work isn’t a story, but the issues that their work brings to light might be. We do not cover conferences or seminars. Please send these announcements to the general magazine address or email.

Design Work Submissions
Design professionals: keep us apprised about projects as they are awarded, in progress, and completed. We are especially interested in projects that illustrate innovative design approaches or unconventional responses to typical problems in:

• single-family (though we publish few in this category) and multi-family
  interiors and exteriors
  
• public work, such as schools and health facilities
  
• graphic design
  
• product design
  
• commercial work.

Each year we cover the evolving workplace, educational buildings, and new or forgotten materials or technologies.

Include a brief description of the goals of the project and snapshots, renderings, floorplans, color copies of professional photos, or digital images—tiffs, jpegs or other formats that can be opened on a Mac. Please do not send irreplaceable art.

Digital images intended for use in the magazine are best in jpeg, tif, or eps format in the final print size or larger, and with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Zipped and stuffed files are fine; compressed images are unacceptable.
