Victor Innovatex is a pioneer in developing beautiful, lasting, and environmentally sustainable textiles for the contract furniture industry. A family-owned company based in Quebec, Canada, Victor was founded in 1947. In addition to producing innovative, environmentally responsible fabrics, Victor’s facilities also meet the highest requirements for health, safety, and ecology with regards to water, energy, social responsibility, and material reutilization.
The breakthrough invention of Victor Innovatex is Eco- Intelligent Polyester (EIP), which they call the first technical nutrient textile. Victor defines a technical nutrient textile as “a material that remains in a closed loop system of manufacture, reuse, and recovery, maintaining its value through many product life cycles.” EIP is also the first polyester that is antimony-free and uses only fully optimized dyes and chemicals without chlorine and PBTs. Victor manufactures a wide variety of EIP fabrics and all have been certified as safely and perpetually recyclable. Victor Innovatex production also uses renewable energy sources.
After a thorough evaluation of EIP material and product ingredients for human and environmental safety, EIP was awarded the Cradle to Cradle Gold certification from McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry. James Ewell, The Senior Project Manager at MBDC says “for the past five years, Victor Innovatex has worked diligently to make Eco Intelligent Polyester the best product it can be. Most companies would have been satisfied with the significant achievement of optimizing the chemistry of their product. However, Victor realizes that sustainable design encompasses many issues in addition to material health.” EIP is the first fabric to merit this level of distinction for its excellence in meeting a diverse set of sustainability criteria.
Senza is a new EIP panel fabric designed by Victor Innovatex and Haworth that debuted at the 2006 NeoCon exhibition. Senza is the Italian word for “without” and refers to the fabric’s composition of environmentally safe fibers without heavy metals or bioaccumulative, toxic chemicals. Senza products also keep value in mind for the consumer without compromising design quality or sustainability. Victor Innovatex conducted design community focus groups to guide its production of Senza, leading to deeper, richer panel colors and subtle pattern variations within the yarn. Senza panels have a European, minimalist style and are offered in both neutral palettes and bolder colors.
Another line of Victor Innovatex’s panel fabric, Asana, was awarded the ADEX Award for its design and sustainability. This highly versatile fabric was made to suit a variety of panel applications and is available in beautiful neutral color shades that coordinate with any office interior.
Using EIP technology the Enso line was developed by Momentum and is the first sustainable cubicle cloth made for healthcare. Created with the patient in mind, Enso comes in neutral, calming colors to encourage positive energy and promote healing. Its patterns are influenced by Zen aesthetics and elements of nature to create a serene space. There are currently four patterns and over twenty colors available.
