Dust Bin

Posted April 15, 2008

Just 12 years old, Umbra’s Garbino garbage can is already in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Now there’s another reason to love Karim Rashid’s ubiquitous design: it’s being manufactured with an additive that turns the plastic into dust after less than 20 years in a landfill. Garbini, the smaller pencil-cup version, goes one better with a corn plastic that will break down alongside the banana peels and coffee grounds in your compost heap.
