How many pairs of shoes or glasses do you own?
Glasses I only have three pairs. Shoes I might have twenty-five.
Think of something else that ICFF can stand for.
IC is, just, maybe I see something. FF, I’m not really sure… but I see.
If you could build a piece of furniture out of any material in the world, what would it be?
That’s a tricky one. I would make it out of rubber.
What is the desktop picture on your computer?
It’s a computer game, it’s a Playstation game, this little guy, it’s called Katamari, he’s making a ball, and after you get your ball big enough you can ball up a cow. It’s a moving one.
Do you sketch with a particular kind of pen or notebook?
I love mechanical pencils. And I like heavy ones, the metal kind, because I always turn the pen in my fingers, and it helps me think, I think.
When did you know you wanted to be a designer?
Six years ago. And that is the reason why I left Indonesia. My background is in science and math, almost a different person. I was all nerdy with glasses. I went to Seattle to learn basic fine arts and figure drawing and all that jazz. Then I moved to Baltimore and more fine art, and now the Arts Center, which is perfect for me.
What’s the favorite thing you’ve seen here so far?
I adore Konstantin Grcic, his chair. I think it’s a stellar piece.
If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?
A musician. I don’t sing well but it’s just so cool.
What is your least favorite color?
Pastel colors. Like pinks, too pastel. I like bright crazy colors.
Do you have a hero?
I just saw Iron Man. He’s my hero.
