Contract-furniture makers are discovering that an office doesn’t have to look like, well, an office. Taking cues from residential interiors, manufacturers such as Steelcase and Herman Miller have begun incorporating high-end materials and other decorative flourishes that are more often associated with upscale lofts than corporate headquarters. HBF’s new C Collection, by Yves Béhar, epitomizes this crossover trend. The complete line includes seating, coffee tables, lighting, and adjustable laptop tables—all designed to accommodate the technological needs and collaborative style of the twenty-first-century office. Sporting clean, modern lines, the lounges and chairs not only look good, but with 100-percent-lambswool upholstery and ample cushioning (made from sustainable soy bio-based foam), they’re also supremely comfortable.
