Proving that the best things can come in small packages, Leland International’s new permanent space at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart was named the 2009 best small showroom by the International Interior Design Association at the annual NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, in June.
Leland International designs and manufactures contemporary seating and tables for the contract-furniture industry. The company’s new 1,800-square-foot showroom reflects the minimalist elegance of an upscale European boutique with bare white walls, floors, and ceilings. Three new product lines were featured—the Cricket bench, the Ease collection, and Mod seating—along with updates to the award-winning Hammok collection. The winning showroom designers are Bruce Sienkowski and Frederick Hermann.
“The showroom was selected as a winner based upon the successful combination of the organizational simplicity and careful use of color that pulls one into the space,” said Steve McCollom, IIDA, AIA, the vice president of communications on the IIDA International Board of Directors. “The layers of rooms within a room compel you to explore beyond the front door.”
“Our attention is always on the details of our products,” said Shanna Anderson, the vice president of sales for Leland International. “It was a logical strategy to make the showroom very clean and simple so customers could focus on the furniture. We’re pleased that our collaborative efforts have resulted in a great showroom for our guests as well as outstanding recognition for the team.”
Leland International was founded in 1992 and headquartered in Grand Rapids. Its seating and tables are available through a network of more than 40 independent representatives and a multitude of dealers in North America. For additional information, visit www.lelandinternational.com.
