For 22 years, Metropolis has been the media partner of the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, in New York. And for 22 years, ICFF has been the premier spot to find homegrown design. Each May, the Javits Center showcases the best and brightest U.S. talent, which has exploded since the fair’s early days. But ICFF is also where foreign companies come to court the American market, often leasing large blocks of booths and showing in force. Sure, we can head abroad to chase the latest designs from Italy and Japan, but isn’t being wooed at home nicer? Goldman chandelier by Adolf Loos
Woka Lamps Vienna, Austrian Trade Commission
Loos originally designed this fixture in 1911 for Leopold Goldman, who commissioned the architect’s famed mixed-use Looshaus, and he produced variations of it for subsequent projects. Now Woka custom-makes the chandelier in a brass- or nickel-plated finish, sized to order.
