While designs from Denmark, Finland, and Sweden have long been in the international vanguard, Norwegian design has had far less of a presence. Which is not to say that the country’s designers haven’t been turning
out extraordinary work. A deep commitment to creating solutions for social needs, a sensi-tivity for honest materials, and an intimate relationship with the natural landscape have resulted in a long and rich design tradition for the country. Today designers are harnessing this legacy to solve contemporary problems in striking new ways, and claim their rightful place in the global spotlight.
