Looking for fresh inspiration and talent? Head over to the SaloneSatellite, the must-see exhibit at Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile. Curated by the design impre-sario Marva Griffin-Wilshire, it is the most important platform in the world for young designers wishing to connect with talent scouts and manufacturers who might one day put their designs into production. Now in its 16th year, the show kick-started the careers of designers like Matali Crasset, Patrick Jouin, Harri Koskinen, and Satyendra Pakhalé.

This year’s show, which will take place April 9–14 at Fiera Milano in the town of Rho, Italy, will showcase approximately 700 designers, including students from 18 international schools (seven of which are showing for the first time), all of them vying for the SaloneSatellite Prize, awarded to the best lighting and office products. “We will also have a special exhibition focused on craft workshops,” says Griffin-Wilshire. “It will have the idea to design-create with your hands a prototype or object which could be mass-produced by the furniture and lighting industries.” Here are our picks for the designers to watch at Satellite, along with our favorite examples of their recent work.
