All Fired Up

Javits Center regulations prevented Spark Modern Fires from lighting the Fire Ribbon, a glass-fronted, direct vent gas fireplace, during the ICFF—but that didn’t dim the enthusiasm of fairgoers looking for cleanly designed fireplaces for modern interiors. “So far the response has been overwhelming,” says co-founder John D’Alessandro. The Georgetown, Connecticut-based company started developing the product three years ago, when they noticed a gap in the marketplace for simple, visually appealing gas fireplaces. Now, D’Alessandro says, “it’s unique in the industry.” It’s also clean-burning, energy efficient, and approved for use in all 50 states.
