Blu Dot is a strong survivor among the surge of young modernist furniture makers that overwhelmed the scene several years ago. The firm’s newest pieces carry on the classic design values of simplicity, modularity, and affordability.

Thirty 2 is a line of bar stools; its name derives from the number of unique combinations made possible by two different bases, two different heights, and two different seats in four different colors. The seats are squishy self-skinned foam and stools are durable powder-coated steel.

Weave is similarly “customizable,” with its pared-down system of epoxy-painted, hollow-core planks and molded-birch shells. The design is a stylish take on the common college student’s shelving solution-concrete block and wood planks. Weave’s components stack and slide in a variety of configurations and require no tools to assemble and minimal hardware.
