Wavy glass is the wave of the future. So is crumpled, wrinkled, folded, corrugated, crunched, and bubbly glass, says Joel Berman an artist and head of Joel Berman Glass Studios in Vancouver, Canada.
Arrigado, a new product from Berman, is leading the pack in that direction. Arrigado’s ceramic mold is taken from crumpled vellum. The product, despite what its tactile crinkling may imply, is completely structural-competent for doors and canopies.
Unveiled only last month at the American Institute of Architects convention in Charlotte, N.C., Berman already has his first gig for Arrigado, a dramatic four-story stairway wall for an office in Vancouver.
