Just 12 years old, Umbra’s Garbino garbage can is already in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Now there’s another reason to love Karim Rashid’s ubiquitous design: it’s being manufactured with an additive that turns the plastic into dust after less than 20 years in a landfill. Garbini, the smaller pencil-cup version, goes one better with a corn plastic that will break down alongside the banana peels and coffee grounds in your compost heap.
