Toronto-based Alusion was established just a month before ICFF 2002. Today, with a world patent in its pocket on its process of manufacturing aluminum foam, the company is making a name for itself by incorporating this spongy-looking metal into building projects.

This year, the company is showing how to bring aluminum foam, which is typically light but very tough, into more domestic spheres. The circular table is covered in clear resin. It’s fine for dining but, just as important, it’s a visual delight. The many layers of foam, seen through the resin, remind one of looking through a kaleidoscope.
