Mr. Isozaki goes to Los Angeles
Just imagine. 27 years ago MOCA LA was just a gleam in the eye of Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. On January 13th 1981, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles chose this apprentice of Kenzo Tange to design their building in the Bunker Hill redevelopment area of downtown LA.

The New York Times noted that the museum was, “the first American work for Mr. Isozaki, 49 years old, whose precisely geometric Japanese buildings have brought him a worldwide reputation in the last decade.”

Since then, Isozaki has designed other sizable structures in the United States including Team Disney in Orlando and the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus. And, well into his 70s, he is still going strong, designing The University of Central Asia’s three campuses and the new Library of Maranello in Italy, all with his trademark style.

3form’s Shapes also play with geometry and form, helping to create dimensional, awe-inspiring installations. Play with 3form Shapes here.
