Los Angeles-based designer David Dahl has fused several motifs in his Spot lounge chair, created for Carolina Business Furniture. The piece has the chunky solidity of a ’50s club chair yet floats above the floor on a quintessentially ’80s arched metal frame. With the front of the chair sculpted and the back modestly angled, the Spot keeps that nice retro feel without losing its contemporary styling.

Upholstered in a creative use of a customer’s own material (COM), the Spot will provide a flexible canvas for designers. I want mine with a zebra pattern and a single malt scotch.
