IMAX Film Shoots World’s Most Awe-Inspiring Feats of Engineering

France’s cable-stayed Millau Viaduct. At 1,125 feet, it is the tallest bridge in the world and consistently ranked one of the greatest engineering achievements of all time.

Too many of the innovators who created the world’s most long-standing and revolutionary structures are quickly forgotten by history. The IMAX film Dream Big, in theaters February 17th, hopes to rectify that fact by shining a spotlight on those engineers who have made the seemingly impossible a reality.  The film brings to the big screen the human ingenuity that brought us the world’s greatest structures, like the Great Wall of China, the world’s tallest skyscrapers, and solar and smart cars.

The main objective of Dream Big is to inspire the youth of today to become engineers—and the world’s next great innovators. Director Greg MacGillivray says that, “we wanted to see if we could bring something new to that effort with an entertaining, visually spectacular film full of stirring human stories, one that energizes kids of all kinds, including girls and minorities, to think about engineering.” The film will be accompanied with exhibits, events, and educational programs presented in partnership with the American Society of Civil Engineers and others in order to give children a more hands-on engineering experience.
