Hand-Tufted, Mother-Approved

If the designs featured on Connecticut based Vicki Simon’s 100% wool rugs appear to be naïve sketches, that’s because they are. Taking inspiration from her eight-year-old son’s rough drawings of sea and prehistoric creatures, Simon created The Depths, a line of high quality rugs that are both elegant in their hand-tufted process and unruly in design. Simon is also debuting two other designs at ICFF, Night Vision and Spiderdance, both of which feature elements of nature—Night Vision becomes especially spooky after viewing Simon’s stuffed owl that she keeps on display in her ICFF booth and whose eyes inspired the 3-dimmensional pattern of her rugs.
