The ICFF invites are rolling in (and in and in and in–check our Ultimate Event Guide for a frequently-updated roster of all the happenings) and already we’ve noticed a 2010 show-floor mini-trend: At least three exhibitors this year will be hand-making products in their booths. Should be a nice reminder of just how much painstaking work goes into the creation of all those flawless new products at the Javits.

Here are the details:

.FlashFactoryTom Dixon (Booths 1900 and 2000)

In addition to his new Industry collection of furniture and lighting (in booth 1804) , Dixon will be hosting a “Flash Factory” where ICFF-goers can make and buy a limited number of exclusive products from the Industry show.

On Saturday only, Artek will hold a live upholstery demonstration as part of its “Dress the Chair” project. Alvar Aalto’s iconic 1936 “Tank” armchair (above) will be reupholstered in Maharam fabric.

Throughout the fair, the Swedish luxury-mattress manufacturer will have one of its master craftsmen on hand to demonstrate the production process of its most popular bed, the 2000T II, pictured above.
