Using stem cells as inspiration, Tazana lighting designer Suppapong Sonsang creates beautifully repetitive patterns for his light fixtures. “It starts from a small piece and can expand to many different forms,” says Sonsang. The Bangkok-based company combines modern technology with traditional Thai crafting. The plastic lights are available in two standard forms—Stemcell Rose and Stemcell Egg—in eight various colors. For those looking to flex their own design muscles, there is Stemcell DIY, a kit including pieces of the plastic pattern in varying sizes that can be connected together to create an infinite number of forms. Looking to nature once again, Sonsang constructed an accompanying piece, the aptly named Foliage light. A virtual hurricane of plastic leaves encases each light, turning your standard 30-Watt bulb into a stunning piece of design.
