MIO principal Jaime Salm, 24, hails from Colombia and cares about the environment. Last month, he and MIO collaborators launched Tangent three-dimensional wallpaper, molded from an alloy of pre- and post-consumer recycled newspaper and cardboard.

Ground up and molded into triangular modules, the wallcovering seems to celebrate its triangular seams, which come together to form hexagons. By September, a new fabrication technique will eliminate the seams and ensure that Tangent meets commercial fire codes.
