Politics with a Side of Bacon

It’s morning in America.

Far too much ink (some of it digital) has already been spilled this election cycle on dissecting the presidential candidates’ graphic-design choices, so we’ll spare you another pained analysis of McCain’s militaristic pandering or Obama’s GQ filching. But the recent obsession over Barack and bacon (no, we’re not making this up) reminds us of our first thought upon seeing his logo: Looks like breakfast!

Apparently, the design (created by the Chicago branding firm Sender) is supposed to be a wide-open road or a sunrise over a field or something else equally hopeful and fuzzy, not the sunny-side-up egg with bacon that we see. Maybe. Or maybe he’s just taking this “morning in America” thing a bit too literally.
